Homeschool Days at the NBMAA are designed for K-8 students. Each month features a different artistic element, historical period, or special exhibit, using the galleries as our classroom. Your students will engage in inquiry-based learning and flex visual literacy skills through discussions of works of art. We’ll end our sessions with studio workshops-art making, poetry, storytelling-that will allow students to delve deeper into the creative processes behind the works of art that we view. Join us for the entire curriculum, or the programs that best suit your home teaching!

*Enrollment is limited and you must preregister by the deadline listed for each program. If a class is sold out, there will be a waitlist. Payment will not be refunded for no-shows. For questions, contact Kate Swanson, Manager of Family & Studio Programs, at (860) 229-0257, ext. 220 or at swansonk@nbmaa.org.

    School Visits
Works of art in the Museum’s collection are rich, primary source texts that encourage interdisciplinary learning for all grade levels. The NBMAA offers school visits that are designed to enrich curricula and engage students in dialogue as they view artworks in the galleries and create projects in the American Savings Foundation Art & Education Center. Contact Maura O’Shea, Coordinator of Adult and Student Tours and Teacher Programs, at 860-229-0257, ext. 235 or at osheam@nbmaa.org to learn more about how the NBMAA promotes arts integration with the CT Social Studies Frameworks, Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Math, and the Next Generation Science Standards.
