Come enjoy this musical puppet show!
Tom Knight has been delighting children and their grown-ups with his original, interactive, musical puppet show since 1988. His unique blend of musicianship and puppetry celebrates reading (“the Library Boogie”), the environment (“the Garbage Monster”), and science (“the Solar System”), with original hand-made puppets, catchy songs, and lots of audience participation.
The vibrant and amusing visual elements appeal to children as young as 2, while fun lyrics engage children up to twelve, and adults, too!

It’s meant to be exploratory, it’s meant to be messy and it’s meant to be fun! Having toddlers explore with clay is a great way for them to get out excess energy, is an outstanding sensory development activity and creative play promotes imaginative problem-solving skills.
We are offering this toddler class to give kids a chance to get messy and have some creative, experimental fun – and we take care of the clean up! Bring them in to explore, smoosh, poke, and play with clay. We will have basic instruction with clay tools for the kids to use. Adults are encouraged to work with their little ones.

Welcome to Mystic Noank Library’s Chess Club! The club welcomes children grade 3 and up! We will be meeting on Wednesdays after school from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Children should know how the chess pieces move before their first visit. We teach chess strategy, chess sportsmanship, and organize games.
Sportsman-like conduct is always a goal. Members must be respectful of each other’s play, and at the end of each game, win or lose, members must be cordial with one another.
Instructor:
Michael Grater, library associate and chess enthusiast, leads our Chess Club. He grew up playing chess and continues to play for fun. Chess is a great game that builds concentration, patience, planning, sportsmanship, and problem-solving skills in children, teens and adults.

In Japanese, the word “Kodo” holds a double meaning. It can be translated as “heartbeat,” the primal source of all rhythm. However, our group’s name is written with different characters, which mean “drum” and “child.” This reflects Kodo’s desire to play the drums with the simple heart of a child. To commemorate our 40th anniversary in 2021, we created two new touring productions based on our name: “Tsuzumi” takes its name and theme from the drum character, and “Warabe” from the child element.
Tsuzumi, the first work, opens with a very special piece in our ensemble’s history that is seldom performed on tour—Dyu-Ha. The late Maki Ishii, a modern composer who was introduced to Kodo by conductor Seiji Ozawa, presented this piece to Kodo as a gift to congratulate our ensemble on its debut in 1981. We will perform Dyu-Ha on this tour for the first time in North America since 1989. Today’s programme also features Ishii’s masterpiece Monochrome and other Kodo signature pieces such as O-daiko, Yatai-bayashi, and Zoku, coupled with new compositions. Join us as we trace our group’s origins back to the beginning, to reflect on our history and reaffirm what has shaped Kodo today.
