  • Winter Garden Ice Arena is a privately owned, nonexclusive ice arena, open to the entire community. Winter Garden offers recreational skating, figure skating, youth and adult hockey programs, and a host of special events and clinics. We are home to one of the largest youth program in Connecticut. Our mission is to bring together the finest facilities, programs and people.

Winter Garden Ice Arena offers a progression of programs for every level of skater. Non-skaters can start with Ice Mice, learn to Skate or learn to Skate for Hockey Players, three age specific programs designed to get you or your child started in the sport. Already skate? Join in our higher levels of Lean to Skate, or Hockey Development. If your child already has a foundation in skating & hockey skills, come join the GHL Recreational Youth Hockey Program. We even offer skating & hockey programs for the adult eager to join in the fun.

Located off the front lobby, Top Shelf Pro Shop offers a varied selection of hockey equipment for every level. Ranging from the beginning skater through the adult recreational player, Top Shelf offers great products and services at a good price in a fun atmosphere. Stop in and check us out! Call for hours 203-431-2919.  Skate sharpening is done on the premises while you wait drop off service is also available.

Top Shelf  Hockey, specializing in hockey development offers private and small group lessons on the artificial ice surface located on the second floor of Winter Garden. For complete information, call T J Cline at 203-910-6485 or email

Public skating sessions are available on a per skate basis or by season pass. Our skating season begins in September and continues through the end of May. Public Skating Sessions take place on weekdays, starting in September, generally 10am-2pm. Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, sessions are available on Sundays, 3-4:30 pm. In order to best meet public demand, times will be expanded during holidays and Ridgefield school vacations. Check the schedule often. Organizations may call in advance for group rates.
