We opened our doors in 1989 and have been fortunate to work with so many children and adults from Wilton and the surrounding towns as they learn and grow. We’ve seen our alumni become productive and successful individuals in fields as varied as doctors and nurses, to lawyers and teachers as well as many finding careers in the performing arts.

We provide students with a proper technical foundation to explore their interest in dance. Our classes are fun and exciting, yet structured, with each student receiving individual attention and encouragement. We want everyone to love dance, so we are careful to select both movement and music to make learning fun, while being age-appropriate.  Our staff is well-trained to instruct movement that has correct form and is safe for our student’s developing bodies.
Our staff continues to train, perform and participates in professional development activities in order to provide our students with a well-rounded, safe and appropriate class experience. Additionally students have the opportunity to participate in several performances throughout the year; Nutcracker in the fall, Competition teams during the winter months, our year-end performance in June, and a smattering of community offerings throughout the season.

Children will experience the joy of dance and begin building a learning foundation that lasts a lifetime! Classes are taught by patient and nurturing professionals.
Performance Opportunity for Pre-Ballet, Pre-Ballet/Tap Combo and Beginner Ballet (Kindergarten) Classes: Classes will participate in the Annual Year-End performance in June. You will receive an information packet for the performance in the early spring. A costume purchase and regular attendance are requirements for participation in the performance. Participation in the spring performance is guaranteed only when child participates in both terms. However, children who enroll only in the spring term will be extended an invitation to perform on a case-by-case basis.
Dancers wishing to perform in our annual Nutcracker production may do so by signing up on the registration form. Rehearsals for this age group begin mid-October and take place Saturday or Sunday afternoons. There is an additional fee. Performances are held at the Wilton High School in early December.

Ballet:
What makes our Ballet program so successful? Mrs. Froehlich has assembled a unified teaching staff that puts your child’s experience at the forefront. The teachers of the Ballet program (level I & above) create a cohesive, level appropriate, creative & rewarding full length ballet each year, all the while maintaining a class structure that continues to challenge and improve upon the dancer’s technique.

Your child’s training is so important to us that we offer a variety of ballet classes to address the particular needs of your child. Children are often encouraged to take additional classes in different levels when required or appropriate. Admittance to all classes level II and above will be with teacher recommendation or by audition only. Students must fulfill certain physical, emotional and attendance requirements to remain eligible for a particular level class. Multiple ballet classes per week are necessary, as well as attention to proper nutrition, hydration and obtaining adequate rest, in order to reach optimum progress. Older dancers should arrive early enough to give themselves a thorough warm-up prior to the beginning of each class thus ensuring the student achieves the most from each lesson.

Jazz:

Jazz is a dance form that appeals to everyone because of its energy, variety and vitality. Jazz Dance classes explore contemporary and classic jazz dance. Classes begin with a warm-up to develop strength, flexibility, correct alignment and coordination, followed by progressions across the floor, and culminates in extended dance combinations. The movement explores a range of styles in both lyrical and percussive disciplines with a focus on jazz elements such as isolations, swing and rhythm. The goal is to develop dancers who are expressive, dynamic, musical and passionate. Students at all levels are encouraged, but not required, to take ballet classes. Ballet strengthens jazz technique assisting the student’s progress, allowing them to move through the levels more rapidly.

Contemporary incorporates elements of both ballet and lyrical styles. Trained students, as well as beginners, are encouraged to try this inspiring class. Students currently not enrolled in a leveled ballet class may wish to add a ballet class to increase their stretch, strength and balance. Inquire at the office as to which ballet level class may be added to best support this class. Our recommendations will vary based on your child’s age and past experience. While it is not a requirement, an additional ballet class is strongly recommended.
