With so many demands on today’s families, they need all the support they can get to nurture the potential of youth. That’s why child care and early learning programs at the Y focus on holistically nurturing child development by providing a safe and healthy place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

The Y is the starting point for many youths to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. And the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.

Sports & Recreation

At the Westport Weston Family YMCA, we believe that sports are one of the best avenues for reinforcing the core values. To that end, we strive to provide opportunities for members of all ages to participate in and improve their skills in a variety of athletic and recreational activity.

Our youth sports program emphasizes three things: teaching kids the fundamental skills of their chosen sport, encouraging teamwork and fair play, and creating an environment where kids enjoy playing their chosen sport in order to promote a lifetime of physical activity.

Camp Brochure

Enjoy swimming, canoeing, arts & crafts, sing-a-longs, archery, nature, sports activities and so much more at our beautiful, 32-acre Mahackeno property along the banks of the Saugatuck River and Lees Pond.

Founded in 1938 as a “stay at home camp” for boys, the property remains a rustic and inviting place. It is full of fun and discovery, as be fits its original role three centuries ago, as a summer lodge and hunting grounds for a Native American chief and his tribe.

Generations of local kids have called Camp Mahackeno “home” for the summer, gaining new friends, skills and confidence while enjoying summertime pleasures that make memories for a lifetime.

If you have any questions about camp, please contact Meg George, Camp & Family Services Director, at 203-226-8981 or mgeorge@westporty.org.
