Annie jr – The Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshops at Musicals at Richter is not only a fun way to spend the summer, but also an exciting way to improve your craft and put on a show at the same time.

Join us for a summer of fun in our youth musical theater program! Participants can experience all aspects of a production, as well as exploring the foundation skills necessary for putting on a show. Spend your mornings in workshops learning the basic fundamentals of music, choreography, acting and improv! The afternoons will be dedicated to putting the show together and rehearsing. This program offers a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to use his or her creativity and imagination while working together as an ensemble to craft an exciting piece of theater.

*During Production Week the 9:30am-4:00pm is optional for those participants who cannot do a full day. We will be doing fun games and activities like Kick Ball, Color Wars, Water Balloons, Slip N Slide, Talent Show, Show and Tell, and some special performances. Rehearsals from 5:00pm-9:00pm are mandatory.

The purpose of Musicals at Richter is to:
- provide quality family entertainment to the greater Danbury area in the form of musical theater, operettas, musical revues, and children’s theater.
- give the opportunity to area talent pursuing a theatrical career to bridge into professional quality theatrical productions.
- provide an opportunity for the members of the community to participate in professional quality theatrical productions.

July 21 to August 1, 2014: Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3:00pm.

A well-rounded exploration of acting, improv, music and movement for ages 6 to 11. Students rotate among our instructors in age-appropriate groups and the session culminates in a performance showcase August 1. Our focus is on creating a fun and comfortable environment where young artists can build skills and confidence, and make new friends with common interests.

Students should bring a lunch: no food service.

All classes take place at the Sterling Farms Theatre Complex, 1349 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06905, with two stages, studio classrooms and access to the playground area. Our faculty consists of professional, area artists who share a passion for arts education. Students of all skill-sets and backgrounds welcome.

“There is no place like Richter” and Dorothy will agree! Come celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the MGM Classic. Adapted from the famous movie starring Judy Garland, the stage version incorporates all of your favorite songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” and “King of Forest” – with the rare dance number, “The Jitterbug”, which was cut from the original movie. Performances are given outdoors under the stars where audience members can bring food and drink to picnic on lawn chairs and blankets before and while they watch the show! A fun, family-friendly way to spend a beautiful summer evening!

PETER PAN is one of the world’s most celebrated musicals! Here is all the charm of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, the children Wendy, Michael and John, pirates and Indians, embellished with show-stopping songs, “Never Never Land”, “I Won’t Grow Up” and “I’m Flying”.

Peter Pan, a boy who didn’t want to grow up and so spent his life in Neverland battling the pirates and Indians, but when he brings the Darling children to Neverland with him, he is finally able to defeat his foe, Captain Hook, and befriend the Indian chief.
